Lila December

December has been an exciting month! I am sitting up without any help and am almost crawling. I can get up on my hands and knees, I can move backward and turn in a circle but I am still trying to figure out how to move forward.

I started solid foods- my first food besides cereal was sweet peas. I liked the peas, but did not like green beans, squash, sweet potatoes or carrots. They taste funny and feel weird in my mouth. Finally Mommy gave me bananas and mmmm they were good. I'm not sure if I like apple sauce yet, but I think I will give it another try.

Mommy swore she wouldn't post pictures with food all over my face, but once it happened she couldn't resist.

I saw my first snow!

Aren't I cute in my winter hat?

Thanksgiving

Lila had a great Thanksgiving! She started the day on a nice walk with Mommy and Daddy. It was a little cold out, so we wore our pink bear hat. This one is SO much better than that black cat hat Mommy tried to get her to wear at Halloween.

Loved on Daddy

Then Grandma came over and played with Lila and Mr. Turkey.

Mmmm, he tastes good!

Then it was off to Great Grandma Marge and Great Grandpa Frank's house for Thanksgiving dinner. There were about 20 friends and family to see!

5 Months

I turned 5 months on November 10th!

I have started to try and sit up- look Mommy was helping me...

and then she let go! Woah! I am still learning how to balance.

Mommy says I am very curious. I don't know what that means but I know I like to look at catalogs! So many things to see!

My bounce-a-roo is so much fun!

Splash! I have a big time in the bath!

Being outside is still on of my favorite things and I love going on walks.

Happy Halloween!

Mommy, Daddy and Lila had a date to pick out pumpkins. Lila was checking herself out in the mirror, dressed for the occasion.

We each got a pumpkin, isn't her little one cute? We got one this size last year for her too when we just found out we were pregnant. The squirrels stole it off our porch and we found it half eaten in a bush! So this year, we kept baby pumpkin safe inside.

We didn't dress her up on Halloween, but we did try to put this black kitty hat on her. She was NOT enthused! We tried every trick in the book to get her to smile and she wasn't cracking one no matter what! She's sticking to her guns already...

Halloween day came...she was really interested in those pumpkin socks!

Happy First Halloween Lila!

4 months!

Lila Kate turned 4 months on October 10th! She had her four month check-up and showed off for her doctor how she had already achieved all of the developmental milestones they were checking for. Her doctor commented on how strong she is. She was in the 50th percentile for weight and 97th (!!) for height. She is a long little bean!

She has discovered those feet can be fun to eat:

Lila has a big time in her jumparoo!
Hanging out in her bumbo chair. She is starting to try and sit up on her own.
All ready for a fall walk around the neighborhood.

Hokie Baby

We took a long car ride down to Virginia Tech where Mommy and Daddy went to college. I do pretty well on the car rides, taking naps most of the time. Saturday morning I woke up and finally met my friend Juliet who I have been hearing so much about. She is about 7 weeks older than me and we had fun playing together with her Elmo and Tigger toys. I might need some of those of my own! Our Mommy's put us in Virginia Tech cheerleader outfits and then took us to our first tailgate. We met new friends and I saw some of my family there too. I wore my Virginia Tech tutu for a little while, it was all so exciting! Mommy was being funny and next thing I knew a laugh came out for the first time! She and Daddy seemed really excited about that. Daddy carried me in my Baby Bjorn to the game, everyone had on orange and maroon just like us! It was a little noisy so we only stayed a short time. I have a feeling there will be many more VT games in my future!

Lila Kate news

Lila Kate has learned so many things in the past few weeks! She is rolling over from back to tummy and also from tummy to back. You can't put her down on her back without her rolling right on over. She gets a little frustrated being on her tummy so much, but when you flip her onto her back again- she's so excited to do her new trick that she rolls right back to her tummy. Next thing we know she'll be rolling her way across the room so we're watching her extra close!

She also laughed for the first time :) That may be the cutest sound in the whole world!

She is becoming more and more aware of her hands and learning how to work them. She holds her hands together with her fingers interlaced, reaches for toys with intent, grasps toys (and sometimes waves them over her head like a lasso!) and has started to pop her pacifier back in her mouth when it starts to come out. She also has started to grab on to her bottle with both hands when she is being fed, but sometimes gets excited and knocks it right out of Mommy's hands, she is a strong little girl!

It is really amazing to see how quickly she is changing!

3 months

Happy 3 months Lila!

Mommy started back to work and so Lila started day care. She is loving her teachers and is doing great at her new "school" (doing a little better than Mommy is!). Our girl is already teething (!!), rolled over and has started to grab her stuffed animals on her own. It is hard to believe how fast she is growing.

All about Lila

My Great Aunt Karen made me a very special present- a book all about me! It is such a neat gift and Mommy loves reading it to me.

My latest new things- blowing bubbles and I discovered my fists. I like to put them in my mouth and wave them in the air.

Look, I found my foot!!

I also like to "talk" and "sing"!

Beach Trip

I went to the beach for the first time this week! Check out my sunglasses!

I liked dipping my toes in the water and feeling the sand with my feet.

I had my own tent to hang out in and stay out of the bright sun. The ocean sounds just like my "sleep sheep" that helps me go to sleep every night!

First Trip to Virginia Tech

We took our first road trip a few weeks ago to visit friends and family, including a stop at Virginia Tech! Daddy was excited to show me around and had me wear a VT outfit. Mommy put bows on my shirt so everyone would be sure that I am a girl.

Here I am at Lane Stadium, where the Hokies play.

Daddy is a great multi-tasker! The stadium wasn't very full but I hear it will be packed next time I come, for the Nebraska football game.
