27 week sonogram

Last Friday we had our monthly sonogram to make sure Baby Whitesell is growing like she should. She hit a growth spurt in the last few weeks and not only is she right on track, but she is measuring ahead- which is great news. She weighs 2 lbs 5 oz and everything is looking great.



The ultrasound tech surprised us with a 3D ultrasound, it is so neat to see her features in more detail!

Childbirth class

We had two days of childbirth classes this weekend. Good news, we did not have to watch "the video". It was actually really informative and definitely worth our time. We learned everything we wanted to know and more between the labor and delivery nurse, pediatrician, lactation consultant...and Jason learned how to change a diaper. I forgot how small the little newborn diapers are.

We were able to tour the hospital and see the labor and delivery rooms. They are all private, huge, have wifi (!) and are so much nicer than I expected. Some even have a jacuzzi. We walked by the nursery and saw a cute new little baby all swaddled up and then saw the room where we'll be for the first few days post- birth. Why the TVs in the rooms broadcast ESPN but not Lifetime, TLC or E! I have no idea. New moms get a free massage which is a cool perk and dad's get a free meal in the cafeteria (I guess that makes up for ESPN).

We picked up the piggy bank, Jason did a great job!

Piggy Bank

This weekend we went and painted a piggy bank for the baby at a local pottery painting store. We'll see what the finished product looks like next week after it has gone through the kiln.

Next Saturday and Sunday we have our childbirth class and get a tour of the hospital. We're just a few days away from the 3rd trimester. The second trimester really flew by!

Baby pics

The ultrasound today went great. She now weighs 1.5 lbs, double from 4 weeks ago. She had her legs up by her head, her arms all stretched out- already a yoga baby! We were able to see her kicking my tummy from the inside and at one point she was moving her mouth all around like she was talking to us. She is already making us laugh. She rolled on her right side and had both hands under her right ear, just like how mommy sleeps!

24 weeks

The big news this week is that Jason finally felt the baby kick! She is a night owl, really getting going around 11 every night. We have another sonogram and check-up tomorrow. I am really starting to feel huge but we still have a long way to go! Here is the belly progression:

Happy Valentine's Day!

We are at 22 weeks now and our baby girl is kicking away. She always seems to start kicking when Jason leaves the room, so he hasn't been able to feel it yet. I think she thinks that's funny. This weekend we registered at Babies R Us and put together her crib and swing. I am feeling great and our next doctor appointment is Feb 26th.

We celebrated our last kidless Valentine's Day at an Italian restaurant and with some awesome cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake- our recent favorite! Baby Girl Whitesell got her first flowers from Daddy for Valentine's Day :)
